Retrograde

A planet that appears to move backwards through the zodiac.

Seen from the Earth, every planet except the Sun and Moon periodically seems to slow, stop (station) and move backwards before turning direct again. Mercury does this about three times a year, Venus and Mars less often, and Jupiter and Saturn for several months each year.

In traditional astrology a retrograde planet is a debility: its significations tend to be delayed, reversed or revisited.
